Swim Lesson Coordinator and Instructor Job Description

Somerset Swim and Fitness is a boutique fitness club in Nashua, NH with a heated saltwater pool. Our WSI and/or Red Cross Certified Swim Instructors teach 30 minute private and semi-private lessons for children and adults. No Group Lessons! We are seeking a hybrid semi Full Time (estimated 30 hrs per week) Swim Lesson Coordinator and Instructor to manage the Swim Lesson Program and teach swim lessons.

Responsibilities Include:

• Teaching Swim Lessons (expected to be about 50% of your work load)
• Manage and coordinate swim instructor schedules in Excel, update and communicate with instructors regarding any changes in schedule, cancellations, or new clients.
• Send email confirmations to new swim lessons clients and instructors to confirm lesson start date, time and schedule.
• Make sure new swim lesson clients sign their swim lesson agreements in the Twin Oaks membership system.
• Check in swim lesson clients and print their swim lesson slips to redeem each lesson.
• Contact swim lesson clients prior to their package expiration date to find out if they want to continue their lessons and purchase a new package.
• Follow up on swim lesson inquiries and provide pricing and information to prospective clients.
• Monitor swim lesson waiting list and add to schedule on a first come first served basis
• Manage Swim Instructor Staff and coordinate commission schedule
• Support front desk staff answering phones and checking in guests
• Serve as a back-up swim instructor as needed
• Be familiar with American Red Cross Learn-to-Swim levels/curriculum or other nationally recognized water safety/swim lesson curriculum.
• Provide individual instruction for varying ages.
• Design individualized programs to meet the participant's interests, abilities and goals.
• Educate participants on proper technique and promote swimmer safety.
• Provide for the health and safety of participants, including ensuring that all teaching and practice areas are free of hazards and that materials and equipment are safe.
• Tend to accident or emergency situations in accordance with accident/incident protocols and/or emergency action plans.
• Enforce Pool area policies and procedures.

Qualifications

• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word
• American Red Cross Water Safety Instructor (WSI) certified or willing to get certified
• Current first aid, adult CPR/AED certification required.
• Previous swim instruction experience required.
• Proficient in swimming strokes – front crawl, back crawl, sidestroke, breaststroke and elementary backstroke.
• Knowledge of and ability to demonstrate skills in lessons instruction and use teaching aids such as kickboards, diving rings, pull buoys, etc.
• Ability to work independently.
• Reliable and dedicated with the ability to consistently work scheduled shifts.
• Strong communication and customer service skills.
• Coordinated and detail oriented with strong organizational skills
