Description:
Under the direction of the Golf Course Superintendent, is responsible for the playing condition and maintenance of the grounds and turf on the golf course. Courses include Green Knoll in Bridgewater, Quail Brook and Spooky Brook in Somerset, Warrenbrook in Warren, and Neshanic Valley Golf Course in Neshanic.
The Somerset County Park Commission owns and operates four 18-hole championship golf courses, a 27-hole championship golf course, a 9-hole executive style golf course, a 9-hole pitch and putt golf course, three driving ranges, and a learning center which includes 3 practice chipping and pitching greens, a practice fairway, 2 practice holes and practice putting greens. Annual revenues from all golf sources exceed $7,000,000 and produce approximately $3,000,000 profit and provide recreation for over 225,000 golfers each year. Forty-three full time employees and approximately twenty-four seasonal workers with annual salaries of $2,300,000 provide all maintenance services at the five golf courses.
Qualifications
High School diploma or GED. Ability to work with general public. Knowledge of year-round turf maintenance preferred and ability to operate golf maintenance equipment. Ability to work weekends and holidays and if required, and report to work for emergency situations. Must have a valid driver’s license.
