What are the responsibilities and job description for the Youth Employment Services Case Manager (G) position at Somerset County NJ?
Essential Functions
- Screen and evaluate all program referrals to determine eligibility in accordance with New Jersey Department of Labor (NJDOL) and US Department of Labor (USDOL) guidelines for WIOA Youth.
- Conduct intakes and meetings with youth in the office and in the field, including home visits, schools, workplaces, and other approved community locations.
- Collect, verify, and maintain eligibility documentation to ensure accurate and compliant youth case files.
- Administer assessments and proficiency tests to youth, including but not limited to the New Jersey Career Assistance Navigator (NJCAN) and Comprehensive Adult Student Assessment System (CASAS), to evaluate academic levels, career readiness, and skill development needs
- Develop individualized service strategy (ISS) plans for youth, establishing measurable goals and objectives aligned with educational, vocational, and career pathways.
- Research and coordinate appropriate support services and community resources to support case plan objectives and facilitate referrals as needed.
- Assist youth in securing reliable transportation and, when appropriate, provide transportation to appointments, meetings, and other required obligations.
- Provide ongoing case management and follow-up to support youth in completing educational requirements, improving basic skills, building employment readiness competencies, and securing employment.
- Enter, track, and maintain participant data in the state performance database (AOSOS) to ensure compliance and reporting accuracy.
- Maintain on-call support to ensure responsive assistance and support for youth outside of standard business hours.
- Represents the Youth Employment Services program at internal and external meetings, committees and community partnership events to promote program initiatives and strengthen collaborative relationships. Perform other duties as assigned by management.
Qualifications
Essential
- Bachelor’s degree in social work, counseling, psychology, justice studies, education, human services or related field.
- Experience providing case management
- Background in trauma informed provision of services.
- Advanced verbal and written communication skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and internet navigation Valid NJ driver's license
Preferred
- Bilingual Experience working with youth from divergent backgrounds and cultures who may be presenting with mental health and substance abuse needs as well as housing and food insecurity.
Salary: $50,000 - $55,000/year
