What are the responsibilities and job description for the Resource Recovery Worker position at Somerset County NJ?
Essential Functions
- Perform curbside pick-up of recyclables at a constant rate of vehicle speed to handle area coverage and maintain productivity.
- Perform quality control functions by placing marked rejection cards on improper recyclables.
- Wear uniforms and proper safety equipment and other attire such as rain gear.
- Watch for oncoming traffic.
- Move recyclables from curbside to vehicle.
- Lift recycling containers and other recyclable materials into vehicles.
- Activate hydraulic systems by pushing, pulling, and holding proper buttons and levers.
- Step and climb off and on vehicle.
- Stand on side steps or rear of vehicle and hold on while it is in motion.
- Receive ongoing instructions from Resource Driver.
- Guide Resource Driver when making difficult moves in traffic including backing up of vehicle and in the dumping of recyclables.
- Execute manual handling of dumpsters, including pushing, pulling and aligning dumpster containers, requiring physical strength and adherence to safety procedures.
- Must have the ability to properly move and hook dumpster to trucks and operate all recycling truck’s controls.
- Perform Resource Recovery Worker Inside duties when necessary.
Marginal Functions:
- Attend meetings when requested.
- Punch timecard properly, both in and out.
- Attend County sponsored seminars.
Qualifications
Essential
- High School diploma or equivalent
- Prior work experience satisfactory to management. Must possess a positive work attitude and spirit of cooperation and teamwork amongst supervisors and coworkers to promote a healthy work environment.
Preferred
A valid NJ Driver’s License.Salary: $41,000/year
Hours: 7:00 AM - 3:30 PM / 40 hours a week
