Reports to: Program Manager

Hours: Full-Time Monday - Friday 9:00 am – 5:30 pm

About the Organization: The Somali Family Safety Task Force (SFSTF) is a nonprofit community-based organization (CBO) located in the New Holly neighborhood in Seattle, WA that serves refugee and immigrant women and their families. Our mission is to empower immigrant and refugee women and their families by providing culturally appropriate services that embody the core values of our community.

Overview of the Position: The Domestic Violence Case Manager provides culturally responsive advocacy, case management, and safety planning for survivors of domestic violence within Somali and East African communities. This position supports individuals and families experiencing intimate partner violence by connecting them to critical resources, coordinating services, and advocating for survivors, safety and stability.

The specialist works closely with community partners, legal systems, and social service agencies to ensure survivors receive comprehensive, trauma-informed support while respecting cultural, linguistic, and religious contexts.

Key Responsibilities

Direct Client Services

• Provide trauma-informed case management services to survivors of domestic violence and their families.
• Conduct client intake assessments and develop individualized safety and service plans.
• Assist survivors in accessing emergency shelter, housing, healthcare, legal assistance, and public benefits.
• Provide ongoing support, crisis intervention, and follow-up services to clients.

Advocacy and Support

• Advocate for survivors within legal, healthcare, and social service systems.
• Accompany clients to court hearings, protection order appointments, and other critical meetings when appropriate.
• Assist clients with filing protection orders and navigating the legal system.

Community Outreach & Education

• Conduct culturally appropriate outreach and education within Somali and East African communities about domestic violence prevention and available services.
• Facilitate workshops or informational sessions related to family safety, healthy relationships, and survivor rights.
• Build trust with community members to reduce stigma around domestic violence and increase awareness of resources.

Collaboration and Partnerships

• Coordinate with community organizations, shelters, legal advocates, healthcare providers, and law enforcement when appropriate.
• Maintain strong relationships with culturally specific organizations and community leaders.
• Participate in community coalitions and task forces related to domestic violence prevention.

Documentation & Compliance

• Maintain accurate and confidential client records and case notes in accordance with organizational policies and funder requirements.
• Track services and outcomes for reporting purposes.
• Ensure compliance with confidentiality and survivor safety standards.

Qualifications

Required

• Experience working with survivors of domestic violence, sexual assault, or family violence.
• Strong understanding of trauma-informed care and survivor-centered advocacy.
• Experience in case management or social services.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive situations with professionalism.
• Knowledge of community resources related to housing, legal aid, healthcare, and social services.

Preferred

• Bilingual with any African or middle eastern language is strongly preferred.
• Experience working with immigrant, refugee, or culturally specific communities.
• Knowledge of domestic violence laws, protection orders, and victim advocacy systems.
• Bachelor’s degree in social work, human services, psychology, or related field (or equivalent experience).

Work Schedule & Environment

• Standard office hours Monday–Friday, with occasional evenings or weekends for events.
• This position is not remote
