We are seeking a passionate and dedicated Physical Science / Earth Space Science Teacher to inspire and educate high school students in the fascinating worlds of physics, chemistry, geology, astronomy, and environmental science. Duties
- Develop and implement comprehensive curriculum plans aligned with state standards for Physical Science and Earth Space Science courses.
- Design engaging lessons incorporating educational technology and hands-on laboratory activities to enhance student understanding of scientific concepts such as trigonometry, geometry, calculus, organic chemistry, biochemistry, genetics, microbiology, molecular biology, and differential equations.
- Conduct laboratory experiments involving dissection, microbiology techniques, cell biology studies, and research projects to promote experiential learning.
- Assess student progress through formative and summative evaluations including standardized testing preparation and project-based assessments.
- Manage classroom environment effectively by applying classroom management strategies that support diverse learning styles and cultural backgrounds.
- Collaborate with colleagues on curriculum development, instructional design, lesson planning, and integrating IT-enabled lessons to ensure consistency and excellence in science education.
- Provide academic advising and mentorship to students interested in scientific research or pursuing careers in STEM fields.
- Maintain compliance with educational regulations while fostering an inclusive classroom that supports special education needs when applicable.
- Engage in ongoing professional development related to scientific research advancements, educational technology integration, and pedagogical best practices.
Experience
- Prior experience teaching high school science courses with a focus on Physical Science or Earth Space Science is required; middle school teaching experience is a plus.
- Demonstrated expertise in classroom management, lesson planning, curriculum implementation, and assessment strategies tailored for teenagers from diverse backgrounds.
- Proven ability to adapt instruction based on individual learning styles using innovative educational technology tools.
- Experience working with students from various cultural backgrounds while promoting an inclusive learning environment.
- Strong laboratory experience including dissection techniques, microbiology procedures, cell biology experiments, genetics research methods, and molecular biology techniques.
- Familiarity with standardized testing processes and preparation strategies for secondary education settings.
- Background in higher education teaching or mentoring students in scientific research laboratories is highly desirable.
- Excellent communication skills for effective collaboration with colleagues, parents, and students; ability to proofread instructional materials for accuracy is beneficial.
- Knowledge of educational compliance standards related to science instruction and experience implementing IT-integrated lessons as part of curriculum delivery.
