Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced Construction Superintendent to lead the day-to-day field operations of high-end custom homes and renovations throughout the Southport, Oak Island, Caswell Beach, Bald Head Island, and St. James areas.
This is a field-based leadership role. The Superintendent serves as the primary on-site representative of Solstice Builders, ensuring projects are completed safely, efficiently, on schedule, and to the highest standards of quality and craftsmanship.
We are looking for a hands-on leader who understands residential construction from the ground up, anticipates challenges before they arise, and takes pride in delivering exceptional results. Strong organization, communication, accountability, and follow-through are essential. The ideal candidate is proactive, detail-oriented, and committed to maintaining a high level of professionalism with clients, trade partners, and team members throughout every phase of construction.
Qualifications & Experience
- 7 years of residential construction experience, including supervisory responsibilities
- Strong knowledge of custom home construction, renovations, and project sequencing
- Proven ability to manage employees, subcontractors, schedules, budgets, and jobsite operations
- Experience managing multiple projects simultaneously
- Ability to read and interpret plans, specifications, and construction documents
- Exceptional organizational, communication, and leadership skills
- Strong problem-solving abilities and attention to detail
- Experience coordinating inspections and maintaining project documentation
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and SharePoint
- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation
- Ability to work independently while effectively leading multiple employees, trades and vendors
- Self-starter with strong initiative and follow-through
Key Responsibilities
- Manage all daily jobsite operations from project start through completion
- Lead and coordinate employees, subcontractors, vendors, deliveries, and inspections
- Develop, maintain, and enforce project schedules
- Forecast upcoming work, material needs, and potential scheduling conflicts
- Review plans and specifications to ensure accurate execution
- Proactively identify and resolve construction challenges
- Maintain project documentation, logs, reports, photos, and schedules
- Ensure all work meets Solstice quality standards and applicable building codes
- Conduct quality control inspections throughout each phase of construction
- Conduct regular jobsite meetings with subcontractors and project stakeholders
- Communicate regularly with clients, project team members, architects, and designers
- Maintain safe, organized, and professional jobsites
- Manage punch lists and project closeout activities
- Monitor labor productivity and subcontractor performance
- Carry out customer concerns and resolve issues in a professional and timely manner
- Uphold Solstice Builders' reputation for craftsmanship, professionalism, and customer service
