Residential Solar Installer

Job Summary
SolQ is seeking a motivated and reliable Residential Solar Installer to join our installation team in Cedar Rapids, IA. In this role, you will help install, maintain, and troubleshoot residential solar photovoltaic (PV) systems while ensuring projects are completed safely, efficiently, and according to applicable codes and quality standards.
The ideal candidate has hands-on solar installation experience, basic electrical knowledge, strong attention to detail, and the ability to work effectively as part of a team.
Responsibilities
- Install residential solar PV systems, including solar panels, mounting systems, and related equipment.
- Perform job-site assessments, measurements, and preparation activities.
- Assemble and install solar modules, support structures, and system components.
- Follow installation plans, blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings.
- Assist with electrical and mechanical installation tasks within the scope of the position.
- Inspect installations to ensure quality and compliance with applicable codes, regulations, and company standards.
- Identify, troubleshoot, and resolve installation-related issues.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area.
- Work collaboratively with other members of the installation team to complete projects efficiently and on schedule.
- Communicate professionally with homeowners and provide a positive customer experience.
- Follow company safety procedures and applicable workplace safety requirements.
- Perform routine maintenance and other installation-related duties as assigned.
QualificationsRequired
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- At least 1 year of hands-on solar installation experience preferred.
- Basic knowledge of electrical systems and components.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings.
- Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work safely on rooftops and at heights.
- Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
- Ability to perform the physical duties associated with solar installation, including lifting, carrying, climbing, bending, and standing for extended periods.
- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
Preferred
- 1–2 years of residential solar PV installation experience.
- Technical or vocational training related to solar, electrical, construction, or a related field.
- NABCEP certification or progress toward certification.
- Experience with residential solar mounting systems and installation practices.

Physical and Work Environment
