UX/UI Designer

Our client, a major telecommunications and media company, is seeking a Senior UX/UI Designer for a freelance/contract opportunity supporting their digital experience design team.  The ideal candidate is passionate about creating digital experiences that effectively attract, engage, serve, and retain customers. This role is focused on delivering thoughtful, high-quality user experiences that clearly communicate sales and marketing messaging while supporting customer and business needs. The designer will help shape experiences that adapt to customer behaviors, preferences, eligibility, and intent through personalization, intelligent recommendations, and AI-enabled interactions. With a strong focus on innovative experience strategy, this role is accountable for the end-to-end user experience and will work closely with teams across Sales, Marketing, Product, Technology, Data, and Brand to ensure both the business vision and customer expectations are met.

Responsibilities:

• Design, develop, and produce holistic digital experiences across responsive web and mobile platforms.

• Advocate for the customer while partnering closely with Product Managers, Engineers, Researchers, Data Scientists, and business stakeholders to solve complex experience challenges.

• Design personalized customer journeys that respond to user behavior, preferences, account status, eligibility, and contextual needs.

• Explore and define AI-enabled experiences, including intelligent recommendations, conversational interfaces, predictive content, guided decision-making, and personalized sales and service journeys.

• Translate personalization strategies and AI capabilities into intuitive, transparent, and customer-friendly experiences.

• Create user flows, sketches, wireframes, prototypes, journey maps, and other design artifacts to define and communicate end-to-end experiences.

• Work independently with minimal supervision while demonstrating the ability to lead projects and initiatives autonomously.

• Drive a user-centered, iterative, and collaborative design process focused on rapid prototyping, experimentation, user research, continuous improvement, and deployment.

• Contribute to coherent visual and interaction design across customer journeys, products, and channels.

• Partner with UX Research to plan usability studies, concept testing, and personalization research, translating findings into actionable design improvements.

• Conduct stakeholder interviews and analyze customer feedback, behavioral data, usability findings, and research insights to enhance existing products and identify new opportunities.

• Collaborate with Product, Data, and Technology teams to evaluate and prioritize features by balancing customer needs, business objectives, technical feasibility, and responsible AI considerations.

• Participate in and facilitate design workshops focused on discovery, journey mapping, personalization opportunities, and AI-assisted experiences.

• Design clear customer controls, explanations, and feedback mechanisms that build trust in personalized and AI-driven experiences.

• Confidently present UX/UI concepts, design rationale, prototypes, and recommendations to stakeholders, customers, and development teams in formal and informal settings.

• Stay informed on emerging design patterns, personalization technologies, generative AI, conversational design, and evolving customer expectations.

Required Qualifications:

• 5–7 years of relevant UX/UI or digital product design experience.

• Experience designing customer-facing digital experiences across responsive web and mobile platforms.

• A strong portfolio demonstrating end-to-end UX thinking, complex customer journeys, interaction design, and measurable outcomes.

• Experience designing personalized or data-informed experiences based on customer behavior, segmentation, preferences, or eligibility.

• Experience designing AI-enabled features such as recommendations, conversational experiences, predictive assistance, smart search, or guided workflows.

• Strong understanding of the opportunities and limitations of generative AI, machine learning, and personalization within customer experiences.

• Ability to simplify complex systems and emerging technologies into intuitive, accessible, and trustworthy experiences.

• Familiarity with responsible AI principles, including transparency, customer control, privacy, bias, and explainability.

• Experience with web development and CMS platforms is a plus.

• Advanced proficiency in Figma, including prototyping, component libraries, and design systems.

• A proactive, analytical, curious, and organized approach.

• Excellent written, verbal, visual, and presentation communication skills.

• Strong understanding of marketing, sales, e-commerce, and customer service experiences.

• Proven ability to excel in a fast-paced environment while managing multiple projects, priorities, and deadlines.

• Experience working in Agile product environments and supporting planned quarterly roadmap initiatives is preferred.
