Design Director for Junior Dresses

Leading dress design company, is seeking an experienced Design Director with expertise in Contemporary style Dresses for the Junior’s market. Will be responsible for creating, designing, and developing their successful collection which are sold to better department stores. This is a collaborative design team that is on-site 4 days a week.

• The salary range for this role is $150-175,000 based on experience plus benefits.

Responsibilities:

• Design and develop seasonal collections for Junior dresses that align with brand vision and market trends.
• Create original sketches, technical drawings, colorations, and print and pattern.
• Collaborate with the merchandising and production teams to ensure designs meet cost targets and delivery schedules.
• Conduct trend research, market analysis, and attend trade shows as needed.
• Oversee fittings and adjustments, ensuring proper fit, function, and comfort.
• Work closely with fabric and trim sourcing teams to select appropriate materials.
• Manage and recruit top talent needed for your division.

Required Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Fashion Design or a related field.
• Minimum 10 years of experience in apparel design with experience in contemporary dresses.
• Strong portfolio highlighting design experience in junior dresses or contemporary day dresses.
• Proficiency in Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, and CAD software.
• Excellent knowledge of garment construction, fit, and safety standards.
• Effective communication and presentation skills.
• Highly organized with the ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.
