Position Summary
The Maintenance Technician II is responsible for performing intermediate to advanced maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of manufacturing equipment and facility systems. This role supports production operations by executing preventive maintenance, diagnosing equipment issues, and completing repairs on mechanical, electrical, and control systems. The Maintenance Technician II works with limited supervision, contributes to continuous improvement efforts, and serves as a technical resource for less experienced technicians.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Perform scheduled preventive maintenance (PMs) on production equipment and facility systems.
- Troubleshoot and repair mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems.
- Diagnose and resolve equipment issues involving motors, drives, sensors, and basic PLC-controlled systems.
- Respond to equipment breakdowns to minimize downtime and restore operations safely and efficiently.
- Assist with equipment installations, upgrades, and modifications.
- Replace defective components and ensure equipment is returned to proper operating condition.
- Document maintenance activities, repairs, and parts usage in the CMMS or maintenance logs.
- Follow all safety procedures, lockout/tagout (LOTO), and regulatory requirements.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives and recommend corrective actions to improve equipment reliability.
- Provide guidance and support to Maintenance Technician I personnel as needed.
Required Knowledge
- Solid understanding of industrial maintenance practices and equipment.
- Working knowledge of mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems.
- Basic understanding of PLCs, sensors, and automated equipment.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, schematics, and manuals.
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- Attention to detail and ability to work independently.
Education and Experience
- High school diploma or equivalent required; technical certification or associate degree preferred.
- Minimum of 3–5 years of industrial maintenance experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Experience performing preventive maintenance and equipment troubleshooting.
- CMMS experience preferred.
Physical and Environmental Requirements
- Ability to stand, walk, climb, bend, and work in confined spaces as required.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds occasionally.
- Work performed in a manufacturing environment with exposure to noise, heat, dust, moving machinery, and electrical systems.
- Must use appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) and follow safety guidelines.
