Job Description
We are looking for a responsible, dependable caregiver to become an important part of our care team at a small 7-bed residential care facility in St. Helens, Oregon.
Our goal is to provide consistent, compassionate, high-quality care to each resident in a safe and home-like environment. The ideal candidate will be patient, respectful, friendly, reliable, and able to communicate clearly with residents, coworkers, families, and management.
This position requires someone who can follow detailed care instructions, manage time well during a 12-hour shift, and remain calm and responsible in both routine care situations and emergencies.
Responsibilities
- Assist residents with personal care, hygiene, grooming, dressing, toileting, and daily routines
- Assist with mobility, transfers, walking, ambulation, and safe movement throughout the home
- Support residents with medication routines according to facility procedures and care plans
- Help residents with prescribed exercises or activity routines as directed
- Plan, prepare, and serve meals while following dietary needs and restrictions
- Perform light housekeeping, laundry, and cleaning tasks to maintain a safe and comfortable home
- Provide companionship, encouragement, and respectful daily interaction
- Monitor residents for changes in condition, behavior, mood, mobility, appetite, or other concerns
- Promptly report unusual incidents, resident changes, safety concerns, or emergencies
- Respond quickly and responsibly in emergency situations
- Follow care plans, written instructions, facility policies, and health and safety standards
- Build trust and positive relationships with residents to support their comfort, dignity, and quality of life
Skills and Qualifications
- Prior caregiving experience preferred
- CPR/First Aid knowledge or certification preferred
- Experience assisting with medication routines preferred
- Knowledge of basic housekeeping, meal preparation, and resident care routines
- Ability to follow instructions carefully and consistently
- Respectful, compassionate, and patient with elderly or vulnerable residents
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Good time management and ability to stay organized during a 12-hour shift
- Honest, dependable, and professional
- Able to work independently while still being part of a care team
- Physical ability and endurance to perform caregiving duties safely
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred
- Must be able to pass required background checks
Pay: $18.00 - $28.00 per hour
