The HR Generalist is responsible for administering and supporting a broad range of human resources functions, including recruitment, onboarding, employee relations, compliance, training, and HR program execution. This role partners closely with employees to ensure consistent application of HR policies, compliance with employment laws, and effective, positive employee experience across the organization.
Job Responsibilities:
- Ensures compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations; reviews HR policies and practices to maintain legal compliance and alignment with best practices.
- Manages and supports full-cycle recruitment for open positions, including job postings, applicant screening, interviewing, and facilitating hiring decisions.
- Conducts or coordinates background checks, employment eligibility verifications, and other pre-employment requirements in compliance with applicable laws.
- Assist in onboarding new employees, including coordinating orientation, preparing onboarding materials, and ensuring completion of necessary documentation to ensure successful integration of new employees.
- Supports offboarding processes.
- Reviews, tracks, and documents compliance with mandatory and non-mandatory training, continuing education, and work assessments, including safety training, anti-harassment training, professional licensure, certifications, and aptitude exams.
- Supports training and development initiatives aligned with organizational and employee needs.
- Supporting HR programs and processes, including compensation, benefits, leave administration, performance management, talent management, recognition, and morale.
- Maintains accurate, complete, and confidential employee records in the HRIS and related systems.
- Responds to employment-related inquiries from applicants, employees, and supervisors; escalates complex or sensitive matters to HR leadership as appropriate.
- Provides guidance and support to employees on employee relations matters, workplace issues, and policy interpretation.
- Participates in employee disciplinary meetings, investigations, and terminations, ensuring documentation and processes align with company policy and legal requirements.
- Supports dispute resolution and workplace investigations in collaboration with HR leadership.
- Contributes to the improvement of HR processes, programs, and employee experience initiatives.
- Performs other duties as assigned to support HR and organizational objectives.
- 3–5 years of progressively responsible experience in human resources, with exposure to recruitment, employee relations, and HR compliance.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong interpersonal, coaching, negotiation, and conflict-resolution skills.
- Excellent organizational skills with strong attention to detail.
- Proven ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong analytical, judgment, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to act with integrity, professionalism, and discretion when handling confidential information.
- Thorough knowledge of employment-related laws and regulations.
- Maintains current knowledge of HR trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and new technologies in human resources, talent management, and employment law.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite or similar software.
- Experience using AI tools.
- Proficiency with, or ability to quickly learn, the organization’s HRIS and talent management systems.
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field preferred.
- Professional HR certification (PHR, SHRM-CP) preferred.
