Deputy Field Director – Texas

Location: Brownsville, TX | Corpus Christi, TX | Edinburg, TX

Position Type: Campaign Position / Full-time

Schedule: Full-time, including evenings and weekends

Pay: $10,000 per month

Bilingual Required: English/Spanish

We are hiring Deputy Field Directors to support canvassing operations across South Texas. Deputy Field Directors work closely with the Field Director to manage daily operations, directly supervise Field Organizers and canvassers, and ensure turf is cut and deployed efficiently. This is a hands-on leadership role for someone ready to step up from Field Organizer or looking to build toward a Field Director position.

This is a full-time role requiring strong organizational skills, the ability to coach and motivate staff, and a commitment to hitting daily metrics. Deputy Field Directors receive program training and, for voter registration programs, complete the county Volunteer Deputy Registrar appointment process before beginning field work.

Responsibilities

• Support the Field Director in executing daily canvassing plans and field strategy.
• Directly supervise and coach Field Organizers and canvassers.
• Cut turf, assign walk lists, and ensure efficient deployment of field teams.
• Monitor real-time data and canvasser performance throughout shifts.
• Conduct morning launches, mid-shift check-ins, and end-of-day debriefs.
• Ensure accurate data entry and quality control of voter contact information.
• Troubleshoot field issues including transportation, turf gaps, and staff performance.
• Assist with recruiting, interviewing, and training new canvassers.
• Provide daily reports to Field Director on progress toward goals.
• Step into Field Director responsibilities as needed.
• Perform other duties as needed.

Qualifications

• 1–2 cycles of campaign or organizing experience preferred.
• Experience supervising staff or volunteers in a fast-paced environment.
• Proficiency with VAN/VoteBuilder and MiniVAN.
• Strong organizational and time-management skills.
• Clear communicator who can motivate and hold teams accountable.
• Problem-solver who stays calm under pressure.
• Able to work long and irregular hours, including nights and weekends.

Requirements

• Must be eligible to work in the United States.
• Must be bilingual in English and Spanish.
• Must have a valid driver's license and access to a vehicle.
• Must have a working smartphone with access to apps.
• Must be available full-time, including evenings and weekends.
• Must complete required program training before beginning field work.
• Willingness to be based in assigned region for duration of program.
• Must be able to meet Texas Volunteer Deputy Registrar eligibility requirements (for VR programs), including:
• Be at least 18 years old.
• Be a United States citizen.
• Be a resident of the State of Texas.
• Not have been determined by a final judgment of a court exercising probate jurisdiction to be totally mentally incapacitated, or partially mentally incapacitated without the right to vote.
• Never have been convicted of failing to deliver a voter registration application to a voter registrar.
• Not have been finally convicted of a felony, or, if convicted, must have fully discharged the sentence — including any term of incarceration, parole, or supervision, or completed a period of probation ordered by any court — or been pardoned or otherwise released from the resulting disability to vote.
• Not have been finally convicted of identity theft under Section 32.51 of the Texas Penal Code.
• Must follow all Texas voter registration, form-handling, and submission requirements.
