Our Corporate Office, located in Audubon, PA, is currently searching for a Director of Operations, Environmental Control Facilities to manage eight environmental control facilities consisting of landfills, transfer stations, composting, and recycling facilities! This position is based fully onsite with travel to other divisions/locations from Pennsylvania to West Virginia. This is an excellent long-term opportunity with a thriving and growing company.
What You Will Do:
- Adhere to and uphold DOT, EPA, DEP and OSHA compliance while training employees as well in everyday tasks.
- Develops and implements comprehensive operational plans for waste processing facilities (transfer stations, recycling centers, landfills, composting center) to optimize efficiency, throughput, and safety. This includes setting performance metrics and monitoring adherence to operating standards.
- Develop, manage, and optimize the budget for the post-hauling operations, including forecasting revenue, expenses, and capital expenditure needs.
- Manage and develop a team of managers, supervisors, and front-line workers responsible for post-collection activities. This involves hiring, training, coaching, performance management, and fostering a positive work environment/culture.
- Building and maintaining strong relationships with customers (municipalities, commercial businesses), addressing inquiries and complaints, and demonstrating a commitment to responsible waste management practices. This also involves engaging with government, community, and environmental groups.
- Stay abreast of market trends, identifying new opportunities for recycling and resource recovery, and implementing innovative technologies and practices to enhance sustainability.
- Seek and maintain all operating permits for landfills, transfer facilities, and composting facilities.
- Assist the Pennsylvania DEP agents on permits, audits, and site evaluations.
- Act as a liaison between the Pennsylvania DEP and customers.
- Attends citizens’ advisory council meetings as required.
- Conducts inspection of each environmentally control facility.
- Provide reports and recommendations to facility personnel as well as to corporate and senior management.
- Other duties or special projects as assigned.
You Have:
- Bachelor's Degree in Civil, Mechanical or Environmental Engineering, Environmental Health, Health and Safety, Chemistry, Biology, or a related field required
- Professional Engineer (PE) license required; Project Management (PMP) strongly desired
- Five (5) to seven (7) years of environmental compliance experience in transportation, distribution or manufacturing required
- Three (3) to five (5) years of progressive leadership, department/divisional leadership or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
- Ability to navigate Microsoft Office successfully
- Ability to travel as needed to meet clients or attend industry events.
- Must possess a valid driver’s
- Knowledge of laws and regulations with OSHA, DOT, EPA, etc.
- Demonstrated ability to build and maintain effective relationships with all levels of the organization
- Strong organizational skills, an innate sense of urgency
- Ability to work under pressure in fast-paced, time sensitive environment with shifting priorities and multiple deadlines
