What are the responsibilities and job description for the Mid to Senior CAD Drafter position at Solid Ground Engineering, PLLC?
Solid Ground Engineering, a civil engineering firm in Redmond, is looking for a mid- to senior-level CAD Technician. The primary duties of the CAD Technician are to produce drawings, layouts, maps, and graphic representations related primarily to land development. This position will require working in, but not limited to, AutoCAD and Civil 3D. There is a 90-day probationary period to confirm that the position is a good fit for both employee and employer. This position is remote for a US resident who speaks English.
Qualifications:
• Must have 5 to 10 years of experience with drafting civil engineering drawings for land development
• This is a remote position. The employee must have high integrity and be trustworthy.
• Strong design capabilities and ability to work effectively and efficiently in the AutoCAD and Civil 3D environment
• Associate's degree or technical certification in a relevant field, such as architectural, engineering, or experience considered sufficient to address the demands of the position
• Ability to read and interpret engineering construction drawings and incorporate redlines from engineers and project managers
• Experience related to land development of residential and commercial development.
• Experience with drafting for signing and striping, illumination, and temporary traffic control is a plus
• Ability to interact, collaborate, and communicate with project teams in a positive and proactive manner
• Strong editing and research skills
• Ability to communicate thoughts and concepts with team members
• High motivation to absorb company standards, learn and grow skill set
• Good understanding of project timelines and is willing to adjust to keep schedules on track
• Highly disciplined in backchecking work after completion and possesses an eye for detail
• Strong problem-solving and analytical skills

• Ability to use standard computer programs such as Microsoft Word, Excel, Teams, Outlook, and Bluebeam required
Responsibilities:
• Serve as a mentor and reviewer for junior CAD staff
• Create preliminary and construction plan sets for residential and commercial developments. Plan sets include preliminary plat plans, horizontal control plans, grading plans, erosion control plans, drainage plans, sewer plans, water plans, details and notes, proposed and existing road profiles and sections, profile existing and proposed utilities
• Perform research, as required, to ensure the use of the most recent standard drawings as issued by various municipalities, sewer and water districts, and WSDOT
• Produce drawing packages for submittals
• Work well with others and be willing to take direction and/or correction from coworkers
• Communicate with supervisor, senior designers, and engineers regarding task execution.
• Identify conflicts in design and communicate solutions with PMs
• Serve as CAD Lead on mid to large-sized projects
• Review the work of others when needed prior to delivery

Pay:
$80,000 - $100,000 per year
