Desired Qualifications
- Certified as a Teacher of the Visually Impaired (TVI)
- Experience with braille instruction and adaptive technology for low-vision and blind students
- Familiarity with Individualized Education Plans (IEPs)
- Strong communication abilities for collaborating with staff, families, and service providers
- Flexibility, resourcefulness, and enthusiasm for supporting diverse classroom environments
- Deliver tailored instructional services to students with visual impairments, both one-on-one and in group settings
- Assess student needs, develop and implement effective lesson plans, and adapt curriculum materials accordingly
- Teach and reinforce use of assistive devices, low-vision tools, orientation and mobility skills, and braille as appropriate
- Participate in IEP meetings, contribute to student progress monitoring, and complete necessary documentation
- Offer consultative support and training to classroom teachers and staff
- Encourage student independence, self-advocacy, and academic growth
