Shift Hours
- 12-hour night shifts starting at 7:00 PM
- 36 hours per week
- Provide compassionate, patient-centered care in a locked psychiatric setting.
- Utilize de-escalation techniques to safely manage patient behavior.
- Collaborate with Mental Health Technicians (MHTs), unit clerks, charge nurses, and Psych NPs.
- Administer medications using Omnicell dispensing systems and occasionally perform phlebotomy.
- Float between adolescent, adult, and dual diagnosis psychiatric units as needed.
- Maintain accurate documentation within the Cerner EMR system.
- Participate in orientation and training including classroom and unit-based sessions, particularly for newcomers or those returning after an extended absence.
- Adhere to scheduling which includes every other weekend or 4 weekend shifts per month; block schedules with all weekends possible.
- Comply with holiday scheduling policies while noting facility blackout dates.
- Registered Nurse (RN) license with Psychiatric specialization.
- Minimum of 1 year psychiatric experience, adolescent psych preferred.
- Current BLS and CPI/MAB/Secure certifications required before starting.
- Experience with Cerner EMR strongly preferred.
- Ability to manage challenging patient behaviors and work in a team environment.
