Special Education Teacher in Lakewood, WA

A contracted full-time position is available for a Special Education Teacher to work with high school students in a rural setting. This role offers an excellent opportunity to support diverse learners in a dedicated educational environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) tailored to the needs of high school students with special educational requirements
• Adapt and modify curricula to accommodate various learning styles and abilities
• Collaborate with teachers, administrators, and families to promote student success and inclusion
• Monitor student progress and maintain accurate documentation
• Provide a supportive and structured classroom environment conducive to learning and social development
  
  

Preferred Qualifications

• Valid Special Education teaching certification
• Experience working with high school students, particularly within rural communities
• Strong understanding of various disabilities and effective instructional strategies
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to engage students, parents, and colleagues effectively
• Ability to manage classroom behavior and foster a positive learning atmosphere
