A rewarding opportunity is available for two dedicated Special Education Teachers to support elementary students at the K5 level in a dynamic educational setting located in Portland, OR.

This contract position involves working in an ERC (Educated Resource Classroom) designed to serve students with mild to moderate disabilities. With a full-time schedule of 7:30 AM to 3:30 PM, Monday through Friday, teachers will manage a caseload of approximately 36 students. The role is rooted in creating a nurturing and inclusive learning environment that promotes academic, social, intellectual, and physical growth. The position also emphasizes meaningful inclusion strategies to assist students as they transition into general education settings when appropriate.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) tailored to each student's needs.
  • Foster a supportive and adaptive classroom atmosphere conducive to skill acquisition and student success.
  • Collaborate with general education staff to facilitate student inclusivity and integration.
  • Monitor and assess student progress, adjusting instruction as needed.
  • Engage with families and support staff to ensure comprehensive care and communication.

Qualifications

  • Current Teaching Service Plan (TSP) license required; Special Education endorsement preferred.
  • Experience working with elementary-aged children (K5th grade), particularly in special education.
  • Strong commitment to student-centered teaching and inclusion.
  • Bilingual Spanish speakers are preferred and encouraged to apply.
