Sign Language Interpreter in Niles, MI

A full-time Sign Language Interpreter opportunity is available in a K-12 educational setting serving students with diverse communication needs. This role is designed to support students, primarily in secondary education, with severe disabilities through skilled interpretation services, ensuring effective communication access in the classroom and throughout school activities.

Location: Niles, MI

Contract Duration: Current School Year (CSY), starting ASAP through June 5th, 2026

Work Schedule: 35 hours per week

Age Group Served: Various, with placement options available to align with interpreter preference

Key Responsibilities

• Provide professional sign language interpretation services to students with severe disabilities across varied age groups
• Facilitate communication between students, teachers, and staff to promote an inclusive learning environment
• Collaborate with educational teams to support individual student needs and classroom accessibility
• Maintain confidentiality and adhere to ethical standards within the educational setting
• Adapt interpretation methods to different classroom settings and student requirements
  
  

Preferred Qualifications And Experience

• Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) and understanding of educational terminology
• Experience interpreting for K-12 students, with an emphasis on secondary education preferred
