Desired Background And Certification
- Valid NM CTRS certification (see: https://www.spo.state.nm.us/wp-content/uploads/Recreational-Therapy-Series.pdf)
- Previous experience as a school counselor or behavior specialist is highly valued
- Strong understanding of physical and adaptive recreational activities for students with disabilities
- Experience working with students with autism, ADHD, and developmental delays
- Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills
- Ability to travel between school sites within the district
- Facilitate group games for students with autism to encourage social skill development and engagement
- Implement structured physical activities to assist students with ADHD in channeling their energy constructively
- Design adapted sports and recreation opportunities for students with developmental delays to strengthen gross motor skills
- Guide students with disabilities in accessing community resources and participating in inclusive recreational programs
- Teach and support students facing stress, anxiety, or depression by providing effective relaxation and coping techniques
