Desired Experience And Qualifications
- Valid Physical Therapist license in New York State
- Previous experience in school-based or pediatric settings is highly preferred
- Strong understanding of IEPs, documentation, and collaborative goal-setting
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for working with students, families, and multidisciplinary teams
- Ability to adapt therapy techniques to meet diverse student needs and school environments
- Organizational skills to manage caseloads and maintain accurate records
- Assess students’ physical capabilities and develop customized treatment plans in collaboration with educational staff and families
- Deliver direct physical therapy services to students individually or in small groups, both in-person and within the classroom setting
- Document progress and therapeutic interventions in accordance with school policies and regulations
- Support teachers and staff by providing strategies and accommodations to enhance student participation
- Attend IEP meetings, contribute to evaluations, and assist in setting achievable goals for student development
- Educate families and caregivers on exercises and strategies to encourage progress outside of sessions
