About The Role

A school district in Lima, Ohio is seeking a highly qualified Sign Language Interpreter (SLI) to provide virtual interpreting services for K12 students who are deaf or hard of hearing. This remote position is ideal for interpreters with strong educational experience who are committed to ensuring equal access to classroom instruction.

Responsibilities

• Provide real-time virtual sign language interpretation for classroom instruction and school activities.
• Support student communication access using ASL and appropriate educational interpreting strategies.
• Collaborate with teachers, special education staff, and families to support student success.
• Maintain professionalism, confidentiality, and adherence to district guidelines.
• Participate in virtual IEP meetings and document services as required.
  
  

Qualifications

• Associates or Bachelors degree in Sign Language Interpreting or a related field.
• Minimum EIPA score of 4.0 required.
• National certification required (RID, NIC, or equivalent).
• Active Ohio SLI license or educational interpreter credential (teaching certification may be required).
• Prior school-based interpreting experience preferred; virtual experience a plus.
