Soliant has built a strong reputation for matching qualified sign language interpreters with meaningful remote positions in educational settings throughout Kentucky, we are currently expanding our interpreter network to meet growing demand for virtual interpretation services in schools serving deaf and hard of hearing students.
This remote interpretation role focuses on supporting students across grades 3-12 in their online learning environments, you will provide approximately 35 hours of interpretation services each week for a caseload of 8-15 students depending on scheduling needs, the position allows you to work entirely from your home while delivering essential communication access to students throughout the school day, your interpretation will span core academic subjects as well as special area classes and school-wide activities, collaboration with educational teams happens through virtual meetings and email communication.
The heart of this position is providing accurate real-time interpretation that enables deaf and hard of hearing students to fully participate in their education. You'll interpret teacher instruction, classroom discussions, multimedia content, and peer interactions. Beyond daily classroom interpretation, you'll also interpret for formal meetings including IEPs, 504 plans, and parent conferences. Preparation time for vocabulary and content review is built into your schedule. You need strong time management skills to balance multiple interpretation assignments throughout each day. Technical requirements include comfort with platforms like Zoom, Google Meet, Microsoft Teams, and various learning management systems. Your home workspace should be professional, well-lit, and free from distractions during interpretation sessions.
REQUIRED CREDENTIALS AND EXPERIENCE - You must hold EIPA certification with a score of 3.5 or above - Minimum 2 years of interpreting experience in school or educational settings - Demonstrated reliability and professional communication skills - High-speed internet connection capable of supporting video interpretation - Professional home office environment suitable for video-based work.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS - EIPA 4.0 score indicates higher skill level - Written EIPA certification - RID or NIC credential with written test - Experience interpreting in virtual environments - Familiarity with Kentucky educational systems.
