Key Responsibilities
- Operate all nuclear medicine imaging and related equipment with proficiency.
- Educate, position, and immobilize patients appropriately for each procedure.
- Coordinate examinations efficiently to promote continuity, quality, and timeliness of patient care.
- Execute provider imaging orders accurately and follow established protocols.
- Prepare and administer radioisotopes per radiologist protocol, observing strict radiation safety standards (ALARA).
- Transfer patients safely and assist them throughout the nuclear medicine procedure.
- Evaluate and submit diagnostic images and clinical information to radiologists for interpretation.
- Maintain detailed records of radioisotope receipt, usage, storage, and disposal, adhering to state and federal regulations.
- Practice sterile techniques and maintain compliance with infection prevention guidelines.
- Communicate clearly and professionally with patients, coworkers, radiologists, and leadership.
- Monitor and manage department supplies, ensuring resources are appropriately utilized and charged.
- Effectively juggle multiple tasks while meeting established deadlines.
- Completion of an accredited Nuclear Medicine Technology program.
- Valid certification or eligibility for certification in Nuclear Medicine Technology (e.g., ARRT or NMTCB).
- Demonstrated experience with nuclear medicine imaging procedures and equipment.
- Detailed knowledge of radiation safety measures and regulatory compliance.
