Desired Skills And Experience
- Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) with strong expressive and receptive skills
- Experience providing sign language interpretation within educational settings
- Credentialing or certification appropriate for interpreting in schools (such as EIPA, RID, or comparable)
- Comfort facilitating communication one-on-one and in group classroom settings
- Professionalism, reliability, and the ability to adapt to a dynamic school environment
- Flexibility to work in-person throughout the school year
- Interpret spoken language into ASL (and vice-versa) for students, teachers, and staff during classroom activities, assemblies, and school events
- Adapt language level and style to match student needs from early elementary through high school
- Participate in IEP meetings, conferences, and collaborative planning as required
- Maintain strict confidentiality of student and school information
