Responsibilities
- Interpret spoken English into American Sign Language (ASL) and vice versa in real-time classroom settings.
- Promote equal access to instruction and participation for the student.
- Collaborate with teachers, school personnel, and families to ensure effective communication strategies.
- Maintain professional ethics and confidentiality in all interpreting assignments.
- Support academic success and social interaction for the student throughout the school day.
- Must meet the State of Pennsylvanias requirements for Educational Interpreters:
- Hold a minimum of a 3.5 EIPA score
- OR hold a current and full RID certification (provisional not accepted)
- Previous experience in a school setting is highly preferred.
- The client may consider a highly experienced ASL paraprofessional, but a certified interpreter is strongly preferred.
