A Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP) is sought to provide specialized services within an early childhood educational setting in Smyrna, DE. This contract position spans the full school year and focuses on supporting children ages 2-5 with diverse speech and language needs in early intervention programs.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assess and diagnose speech, language, communication, and swallowing disorders in early childhood students.
  • Develop and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) in collaboration with multidisciplinary teams.
  • Deliver direct therapy to students through individual, small group, and classroom-integrated sessions.
  • Collaborate with teachers, parents, and support staff to integrate communication goals into daily curriculum activities.
  • Monitor and document student progress, ensuring compliance with federal, state, and district regulations.
  • Participate actively in IEP meetings, eligibility assessments, and transition planning.
  • Support inclusive early intervention and preschool special education settings.
  • Engage in ongoing professional development to stay current with best practices and legal guidelines.

Qualifications

  • Masters degree in Speech-Language Pathology from an accredited institution.
  • Valid state licensure and/or certification (e.g., ASHA CCC-SLP or Clinical Fellowship Year eligibility; DE State Department of Education certification if required).
  • Experience working with preschool-aged children, preferably in public school or early intervention environments.
  • Strong understanding of child development, early literacy, play-based learning, and augmentative and alternative communication (AAC).
  • Excellent communication, collaboration, and organizational skills.

Preferred Experience

  • Working with diverse student populations.
  • Familiarity with IDEA, Section 504, and special education eligibility processes.
