Sous Chef Responsibilities
- Exemplify community standards of cleanliness, sanitation, and operational organization at all times.
- Adhere to food quality, appearance, and presentation standards consistently.
- Produce and serve menu cycle programs compliant with required Nutritional/Dietary criteria as required by local regulations, correctly preparing diets provided by policy and procedure.
- Demonstrate speed, accuracy, and efficiency in cooking standards.
- Display proficiency in all areas of cooking preparation and production.
- Visit residents periodically to evaluate food service quality, quantity, temperature, and appearance, making necessary revisions for improved service.
- Embrace a culture of hospitality! All team members are expected to practice excellent customer service in all interactions with residents, guests, and coworkers.
- Plan, prepare, present, and deliver all meals served within the property.
- Maintain a sanitary work environment and adhere to all local codes and policies regarding proper storage, handling, and serving of food.
- Inspect food storage rooms, utility/janitorial closets, etc., for upkeep and supply control.
- Perform administrative duties such as completing necessary forms, reports, evaluations, and studies to assure control of equipment and supplies.
- Maintain a clean and orderly dining room.
- Obtain and maintain ServSafe/Food Handler’s Permit.
- Process diet changes and new diets received, ensuring compliance with physician’s orders.
- Plan and prepare food items for activities, marketing, and special events as requested.
- Display tact and friendliness when dealing with residents, families, and visitors.
- Foster teamwork through cooperative interactions with co-workers and other departments.
- Support a positive and professional image through actions and attire.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Director of Culinary Experience.
- Minimum 1 year of experience in a restaurant, senior living, or equivalent cooking environment.
- Ability to follow approved, standardized recipes and menus for regular and therapeutic diets.
- Ability to make independent decisions without supervision.
- Strong interpersonal skills to interact tactfully with residents, family members, team members, and the public.
- Ability to make decisions in stressful situations.
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, to direct team members effectively.
- Possess good character and a high degree of personal integrity.
- Demonstrate genuine concern for the physical and emotional needs of older adults and their families.
- Required to receive the annual Flu vaccine, excluding religious or medical exemptions.
Salary : $55,000 - $65,000
