What are the responsibilities and job description for the Barista position at Sole City Coffee Co.?
We are looking for a Barista for our busy coffee house to prepare and serve hot and cold beverages, including various types of coffee and tea. Responsibilities include educating customers on our drink menu, making recommendations based on their preferences, taking orders using a POS system, preparing bagels and various other duties as required. To be successful in this role, you should have customer service skills and knowledge of how brewing equipment operates. You should be able to work various shifts. Note: this position’s compensation includes salary and tips. Ultimately, you’ll ensure an excellent drinking experience for our guests.
Responsibilities
- Greet customers as they enter
- Advise customers on the drink menu and answer their questions regarding ingredients
- Take orders while paying attention to details
- Prepare beverages following recipes
- Serve beverages and various food items like cookies, pastries, muffins and bagels
- Receive and process payments (cash and credit cards)
- Keep the customer tables and back bar area clean
- Maintain stock of all items
- Check if brewing equipment operates properly and report any maintenance needs
- Comply with health and safety regulations
- Various other duties as required
Skills
- Previous work experience at a coffee shop/cafe
- Barista to have previous hands-on experience with espresso machine
- Knowledge of sanitation regulations
- Flexibility to work various shifts
- Basic math skills
- Excellent communication skills
