Responsibilities
- Provide daily care for animals, including feeding, grooming, and exercising.
- Administer medications and treatments as prescribed by veterinary staff.
- Monitor animal behavior and health, reporting any concerns to the veterinary team.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of animal housing areas.
- Assist with animal restraint during examinations and procedures.
- Support front desk operations as needed, including client interactions and appointment scheduling.
- Utilize veterinary terminology effectively when communicating with staff and clients.
- Participate in laboratory tasks when required, following aseptic techniques.
- Handle animals safely and humanely, demonstrating knowledge of animal physiology and anatomy.
- Assist with equine care when applicable, ensuring proper handling and management.
Requirements
- Previous kennel experience or equivalent hands-on animal care experience is preferred.
- Knowledge of animal husbandry practices and veterinary terminology is essential.
- Experience as a veterinary technician or assistant is highly desirable.
- Familiarity with medication administration and animal catheterization techniques is a plus.
- Strong understanding of animal physiology and anatomy to ensure proper care.
- Ability to handle various species safely, including dogs, cats, and equines.
- Excellent communication skills for effective interaction with team members and clients.
- A commitment to maintaining high standards of cleanliness and safety in all areas of work.
