What are the responsibilities and job description for the Accounts Receivable / Payable Clerk position at Solderholm & Associates?
The AP/AR Clerk will be responsible for monitoring the outflow of capital for the company and ensuring the company receives payment for goods and services offered to clients and customers.
This is a part-time position, 20-25 hours per week, and is not a benefits-eligible role. The role will be on-site 5 days per week; hours can be discussed, preferred hours would be 9 AM to 2:30 PM, with a 30-minute unpaid lunch.
Duties/Responsibilities
Accounts Receivable duties:
- Prepares, posts, verifies, and records customer payments and transactions related to accounts receivable.
- Creates invoices according to company practices; submits invoices to customers.
- Maintains and updates customer files, including name or address changes, mergers, or mailing addresses.
- Identifies delinquent accounts by reviewing files and contacts delinquent account holders to request payment.
- Research customer discrepancies and past-due amounts.
- Generating monthly billing statements and late fees.
Accounts Payable duties:
- Reviewing purchase orders, matching vendor invoices, and resolving discrepancies.
- Ensures outstanding obligations are credited upon payment and identifies discount opportunities.
- Assists with accounting records and ledgers by reconciling monthly statements and transactions.
- Records entry of, verifies documentation for, and distributes petty cash.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
- Must be reliable and extremely trustworthy with the ability to maintain confidential and meticulous records.
- Basic understanding of bookkeeping practices and procedures.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, along with the ability to follow verbal and written instructions.
- Ability to work independently and in a fast-paced environment.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite or related software as well as other accounting software programs.
Education and Experience
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Associate degree in accounting preferred.
- Two (2) years of related experience is required.
Physical Requirements
- Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
