What are the responsibilities and job description for the Injection Mold Setup Technician position at Solatube International Inc?

Based in Vista, California, Solatube (A Kingspan Company) designs and manufactures a full line of daylighting systems and ventilation products.
To help us continue to grow our offerings, we’re searching for an Injection Mold Set-Up Technician who will mold tool changeovers, initiate production programs based on the production schedule and set all ancillary equipment following the SOP. This person will also coordinate plans and complete injection molding preventative maintenance requirements in coordination with Maintenance team.
Responsibilities:
- Performs set-ups and changeovers of Injection Mold Tooling and ensures the machine is set for production
- Initiate Injection Mold Machine programs for production, following the production schedule
- Setup and monitoring of all ancillary equipment
- Crane operation for moving and preparing tools.
- Ensure molds are stored in an organized and safe manner
- Prep molds for cleaning and identify any mold damage for repairs
- Keep all molds and change parts in order to be ready for next change over
- Operates following job specifications including written and verbal specifications
- Observes machine operation to detect work piece defects or machine malfunction and reports to manager
- Communicates effectively with peers, subordinates, supervisors and management
- Supports the department as necessary and works to improve 5S conditions
Writes and red-lines SOP’S for injection molding
Perform Monthly Calibration verification on calipers for Injection Mold.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent degree and/or experience.
- Preferred experience with machine set-up and/or changeovers, ideally in injection molding.
- Mechanical and mathematical aptitude.
- Good communication and organization skills.
- Ability to be a team player.
