What are the responsibilities and job description for the Experienced Multi-Trade Carpenter / Construction Lead position at Solaris?
Job Overview
We are looking for an experienced, well-rounded construction professional to join our team for ongoing commercial construction, property development, and renovation projects.
This is not a general labor position.
We need someone who can be shown what needs to be done, given the materials and tools, and trusted to complete the work correctly with minimal supervision.
Our primary project is the ground-up development of a new automotive dealership and shop in Summerville. Work will range from initial demolition and site preparation through concrete, framing, utilities, insulation, drywall, and build-out. We also have renovation projects in the North Charleston area.
What You’ll Do
Work will vary throughout the project and may include:
- Framing and general carpentry
- Measuring, layout, cutting, sheathing and blocking
- Insulation and drywall
- Demolition and renovation
- Concrete forming and slab preparation
- Assisting during concrete pours
- Assisting with underground utilities and trench work
- Basic plumbing and electrical preparation
- Material handling and jobsite organization
- Working alongside subcontractors and other trades
- General site work and construction
This is a skilled position, but no one is above physical work. There will be times when the job involves loading debris, moving material, digging, cleanup, or grabbing a shovel to keep the project moving.
What We’re Looking For
We’re looking for someone with solid hands-on construction experience who:
- Can work independently after receiving instructions
- Has strong framing/carpentry skills
- Can accurately measure, lay out, cut and assemble
- Is comfortable with common construction and power tools
- Has experience with residential, commercial or remodeling work
- Is dependable and takes pride in doing things correctly
- Has reliable transportation and a valid driver’s license
Experience with concrete, drywall, basic plumbing/electrical work, metal buildings, site work or equipment operation is a plus.
Major tools and equipment are provided. Having your own basic hand tools is preferred but not required.
Schedule & Pay
Tuesday-Friday, four 10-hour days
Approximately 40 hours per week with a consistent Saturday-Monday three-day weekend.
Starting pay: $25/hour
Higher starting pay is available for someone with the experience and ability to independently take on more advanced work or lead a helper.
We value real-world ability over titles or certificates.
If you’re the kind of person who can be shown where a wall needs to go, handed the material, and trusted to build it correctly without someone standing over you, we want to hear from you.
Pay: $20.00 - $30.00 per hour
Expected hours: 40.0 per week
Work Location: In person
Salary : $20 - $30
