Job Summary:
This position, in the Materials & Process Engineering department, provides a variety of challenging opportunities for working in multiple materials laboratories supporting test, and analysis activities related to materials research and investigations. The position will report to the Materials & Process Engineering Laboratory Group Manager. This position is in our San Diego headquarters.
Principal Accountabilities:
This position is cross-functional in nature and requires strong interaction with Solar's design engineering, and manufacturing organizations. The successful candidate is expected to collaborate with the Materials & Process Engineering Laboratory team and be willing to execute work in multiple of its labs. Principal responsibilities include
$72,360.00 - $108,540.00

The successful candidate is expected to collaborate with the Materials & Process Engineering Laboratory team and be willing to execute work in multiple of its labs. Principal responsibilities include
- Prepare and test samples of materials to provide results for customer review.
- Assist lab operation process development and improvements of one-off parts to test and/or evaluate material properties.
- Assist with operation, maintenance, calibration, and purchasing of new lab equipment and technology used to complete customer requests.
- Assist with managing lab consumables and ensure adequate amounts are available to complete all required jobs.
- Assist with lab maintenance and administrative activities such as submitting and coordinating requests with IT, Admins, Vendors, Suppliers, Maintenance, and Facilities
- Ability to identify and address safety hazards by updating Codes of Safe Practices and Work Instructions to ensure a safe working environment.
- Associates or Technologist Degree, or High School Degree with a minimum of 5 years relevant experience
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Ability to communicate effectively, both written and verbally
- Computer skills and experience with O365 applications
- Experience with laboratory equipment and techniques
- Working knowledge of safety procedures
- Ability to work with precision and attention to detail
- Ability to use precision measurement tools
