What are the responsibilities and job description for the SOLAR TECHNICIAN position at Solar Optimum?

- Troubleshoot a variety of solar and battery systems such as SolarEdge, Tesla, Enphase (AC/DC troubleshooting).
- Coordinate and maintain the warranty and service schedule.
- Receive and process service requests.
- Troubleshoot service issues.
- Commission monitoring onsite.
- Manage all on-site installation, repair, maintenance, and testing tasks.
- Perform QA analysis on existing solar systems.
- Conduct electrical wiring and troubleshooting.
- Diagnose inverters.
- Choose and configure setup locations.
- Configure Wi-Fi and Cellular network.
The ideal candidate must have the following:
- 3 years of Service Technician experience.
- 3 years of Solar Installation/troubleshooting experience.
- Solar Technician should have an ability to commission solar and battery systems for Enphase, SolarEdge and Tesla
- Energy storage (Tesla Powerwall 2 certification) experience is a plus.
- Able to troubleshoot and analytically determine possible issues.
- Must be able to conduct shading analysis.
- Must not be afraid of heights.
- Capable of carrying 50 lbs.
- Able to set up ladder and climb 2 stories.
- Comfortable working with a variety of technologies and equipment - mobile device apps and laptop software
- Ability to adhere to company safety policies and procedures including ability to identify and report safety hazards, and the ability to encourage others to work safely.
- Able to write field reports in a timely, efficient manner.
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
- Valid CA driver’s license
