Duties
- Lead the commissioning process for large-scale solar projects, ensuring all systems are tested and verified according to project specifications and industry standards such as NEC (National Electrical Code)
- Review electrical schematics, blueprints, and technical drawings to confirm system design integrity before commissioning
- Conduct high voltage and low voltage electrical testing to validate system performance and safety protocols
- Coordinate with construction teams, electricians, roofers, and subcontractors to facilitate smooth installation and commissioning activities
- Perform fixture installation checks, wiring inspections, and troubleshooting of electrical components using hand tools and power tools
- Ensure compliance with safety standards related to roofing, plumbing, electrical work, and construction site protocols
- Document commissioning procedures, test results, and system performance reports for project records and client handover
- Oversee the safe operation of equipment such as forklifts during installation activities while maintaining strict safety guidelines
Skills
- Extensive electrical experience with a focus on high voltage and low voltage systems in renewable energy projects
- Strong knowledge of NEC regulations and blueprint reading for complex solar installations
- Proven commercial electrician experience with hands-on skills in fixture installation, wiring, and troubleshooting electrical systems
- Ability to interpret schematics accurately and utilize hand tools, power tools, roofing equipment, plumbing tools as needed
- Construction site experience with a solid understanding of safety practices related to roofing and general construction environments
- Familiarity with construction equipment operation including forklifts for material handling on-site
