What are the responsibilities and job description for the 5S Coordinator position at Solar 76?
The 5S Coordinator is responsible for supporting daily manufacturing operations while maintaining a clean, organized, and safe workplace. This role applies 5S and Lean principles at the operator level, helping reduce waste, improve efficiency, and ensure products are produced safely and to quality standards. In addition, the Operator assists in safety awareness and compliance by following established procedures and reporting concerns, serving as a frontline advocate for a safe and efficient work environment.
A successful candidate must be able to:
- Perform daily job duties in accordance with standard work instructions and 5S expectations.
- Maintain clean, organized, and clearly labeled work areas to meet 5S standards (Sort, Set in Order, Shine, Standardize, Sustain).
- Participate in Lean initiatives and continuous improvement activities by providing feedback, identifying opportunities, and supporting changes.
- Assist with workplace audits, Gemba walks, and improvement activities.
- Follow all safety rules and procedures; promptly report hazards, near misses, or unsafe conditions to leadership.
- Operate equipment and handle materials safely, ensuring compliance with company and regulatory standards.
- Support team efforts to improve productivity, reduce scrap, and meet quality goals.
- Participate in safety training, toolbox talks, and improvement projects as assigned.
- Provide input to supervisors and specialists on how to improve workplace organization, efficiency, and safety.
- Assist in coordinating the onboarding process for new hires by preparing necessary documentation, scheduling orientation sessions, and ensuring all required safety and compliance training is completed prior to their start in production or warehouse operations.
- Provide hands-on support during the initial training period by guiding new hires through standard operating procedures, demonstrating equipment use, and reinforcing safety protocols to ensure a smooth transition into their production or warehouse roles.

Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent.

Physical Requirements:
- This position may require the ability to perform tasks that involve standing, walking, lifting 50 lbs, bending, stooping, computer work, working with live electricity, and other physical activities.
