THE POSITION:
Solano County is seeking an experienced Child Welfare Services (CWS) professional to serve as a Social Services Manager within the CWS Division. This leader will oversee and direct one or more child welfare program areas, ensuring high-quality services that promote child safety, permanency, and well-being. The Social Services Manager will guide program operations, support policy and practice implementation, and provide leadership to supervisory and professional staff. This position plays a critical role in meeting state and federal mandates, advancing system improvements, and supporting a child- and family-centered service delivery model.
THE IDEAL CANDIDATE STATEMENT:
The ideal candidate is a current or recent CWS Supervisor with extensive experience in child welfare practice and operations. They possess a strong understanding of the complexities of CWS work, including current legislative mandates, practice frameworks, and statewide initiatives. They bring a trauma-informed, equity-focused leadership style; the ability to guide staff through challenging casework; and skill in implementing policy, monitoring compliance, and supporting program improvements. The ideal candidate collaborates effectively, communicates clearly, and fosters a supportive and accountable work environment.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
Experience: Three years of increasingly responsible experience in a social services program of which one year was in a supervisory capacity.
Education: A Bachelor's degree is required from an accredited college or university preferably with a major in Social Work or a related field.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:
Depending on assignment, candidates for positions in this class may be required to possess a master's degree in social work and a valid Licensed Clinical Social Worker license issues by the State Board of Behavioral Science Examiners.
Possession of or ability to obtain a valid Class C California driver's license may be required.
