About The Division
Under the supervision of the Dean of the School of Applied Technology & Business at Solano Community College, the teaching faculty are responsible for supporting student success by creating an optimum learning environment, responding to student needs, and managing effective instructional activities. Additional duties include developing course curriculum, modeling employability skills, demonstrating professionalism, developing cooperative work relationships with other faculty and staff, supporting college administrative requirements, and maintaining competency in their instructional field. The selected candidate will be responsible for quality instruction and for effective participation and interest in the total affairs of the college.
Description
The selected candidate will participate with departmental colleagues to develop/revise, prepare and teach classes in Computer Information Sciences and Computer Applications. They will provide instruction in accordance with established course outlines and expectations; inform students about course requirements; prepare and grade assignments and examinations; meet administrative timelines and submit completed and required documents and reports; and maintain required student attendance and scholastic records. Teaching assignments may include evening and weekend hours, and off-campus instruction in accordance with the collective bargaining agreement and College and School policies.
Faculty will also be responsible for advising students and collaborating with industry partners to ensure relevancy of the curriculum and provide necessary training and education.

The recommended candidate(s) will work in a small office or larger room with multiple people, in a primarily sedentary nature, either sitting or standing. This role will require significant technology use, including long periods of looking at technology screens and entering information using a keyboard and/or mouse device. Interruptions are likely in large room settings and in small office settings. Frequent use of online meetings technology with webcam on, phone, and email will be required to communicate with all campus communities. The recommended candidate(s) must utilize vision (near) to write and to read printed materials and computer screens; utilize hearing for ordinary and telephonic conversation and to hear sound prompts from equipment; utilize manual and finger dexterity to type/keyboard and/or utilize mouse and otherwise operate a microcomputer and other office equipment.

Duties and responsibilities may include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Provide instruction in accordance with established program course outlines of record; inform/advise students about program requirements; evaluate and provide timely verbal and written assessments of student performance; prepare and grade assignments and examinations; meet administrative timelines and submit completed reports and required documents; and maintain required student attendance, scholastic records, and other related materials.
- Develop, review, and maintain currency of curriculum for courses the individual teaches in collaboration with other instructors.
- Work in collaboration with faculty colleagues in the CIS Department in coordinating curriculum and mentoring new faculty in these courses.
- Participate in Program Review and curriculum and program development, revision, implementation, and evaluation.
- Current knowledge of programing language. For example, but not limited to Visual Basic, C , Python, and/or Java.
- Participate in the development, assessment and evaluation of student learning outcomes (SLO) and Program Learning Outcomes (PLO).
- Actively participate in department/school meetings and maintain regular office hours in accordance with the collective bargaining agreement and College and School policies; participate in college governance and decision-making.
- Use technology in the academic environment to enhance student learning.
- Assist in recruiting students and promoting the CIS program through participation in college-sponsored events, student clubs, and educational and industry outreach.
- Participate in college-wide committee work and collegial governance.
- Maintain current knowledge and skills in the area of assignment.
- Maintain effective communication with peers, staff, students, and administrators.
