Job Description:
The Lead Automation Engineer works on a variety of automation projects, performing as a team member and could be required to technically lead a project or projects. This position interacts with clients to understand and develop automation requirements and transform them into effective solutions. This position establishes client relationships and mentors less experienced engineers. In this role, you will lead projects from concept through commissioning. Strong knowledge of PLC: Rockwell, Siemens; HMI: Rockwell, Wonderware, Proficy; strong written and verbal communication skills, must be team-oriented.
Duties:
Perform design and engineering functions for systems of varying complexity.
Prepare project scopes of work, preliminary design concepts, and cost estimates for small projects.
Develop detailed control system electrical design packages preferred.
Develop high-quality, error-free industrial software programs in keeping with the defined project requirements.
Coordinate design with other members of the project team.
Prepare scopes of work, bills of material, specifications, cost estimates, and other necessary projects documents.
Maintain positive client relationships on projects assigned.
Skills/Qualifications:
Bachelor of Science Degree in Chemical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Computer Science or related field.
Five plus years of experience as a Automation Engineer. Experience in a lead role preferred.
Must possess excellent troubleshooting skills with extensive hands-on experience programming PLC’s and HMI’s.
Understanding of control system networks, e.g. Ethernet, ControlNet, DeviceNet, etc.
Instrumentation experience preferred.
Varied industrial background is a plus. Key industries include food, chemical, pharmaceuticals, and manufacturing.
Must possess excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Must be available for regional travel.
