- Assist individuals with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs), such as bathing, dressing, grooming, and mobility support using equipment like Hoyer lifts or assisting with transfers.
- Monitor patient health by taking vital signs, observing behavior, and reporting changes promptly to healthcare teams or supervisors.
- Support medication administration following HIPAA guidelines and care plans to ensure safety and compliance.
- Prepare nutritious meals tailored to individual dietary needs, including cooking and meal planning.
- Maintain a clean and safe environment by performing light cleaning duties, laundry, and organizing personal spaces.
- Provide companionship and emotional support to reduce feelings of isolation or anxiety, especially for residents with dementia or Alzheimer's disease.
- Follow detailed care plans designed by healthcare professionals for residents in assisted living or long-term care settings.
- Document observations, care activities, and incidents accurately in compliance with privacy regulations such as HIPAA.
- Collaborate with team members on resident care strategies and participate in training related to hospice care, autism support, or memory care as needed.
Skills
- Proven experience working in group homes, assisted living facilities, nursing homes, or home health environments.
- Knowledge of patient monitoring techniques including vital signs measurement and behavioral observation.
- Strong understanding of medication administration procedures and safety protocols under HIPAA regulations.
- Ability to perform heavy lifting safely when assisting residents with mobility or transfers using equipment like Hoyer lifts.
- Excellent communication skills for interacting effectively with clients, families, and healthcare teams.
- Compassionate caregiving skills tailored to individuals with disabilities, dementia, Alzheimer's disease or autism spectrum disorder.
- Basic first aid certification along with CPR training to respond confidently in emergencies.
- Experience with care plans development and adherence for residents requiring specialized support such as hospice or memory care.
