Description
The Supply Chain Development Engineer supports Purchasing and Supplier Quality initiatives by evaluating supplier capabilities, leading supplier onboarding and development, and driving improvements in cost, quality, and delivery. This role serves as a technical liaison between internal teams and suppliers and supports the development of cost-effective domestic and international sourcing opportunities.
Responsibilities
- Lead supplier development, engagement, and improvement initiatives.
- Evaluate supplier manufacturing capabilities, capacity, and quality systems.
- Support onboarding and qualification of suppliers for the Approved Supplier List (ASL).
- Develop and implement supplier improvement plans focused on cost, quality, and delivery.
- Build strong relationships with manufacturing partners and coach suppliers on manufacturing and quality best practices.
- Serve as a technical liaison between Purchasing, Engineering, Manufacturing, Project Management, and suppliers.
- Analyze BOMs, engineering drawings, and technical requirements to identify cost-reduction opportunities.
- Provide expertise on manufacturing methods for parts, assemblies, tooling, and equipment.
- Support supplier quotations, negotiations, and contract manufacturers.
- Collaborate cross-functionally to align supplier capabilities with project requirements.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Supply Chain Management, or a related technical field.
- 3–5 years of manufacturing experience.
- Strong understanding of manufacturing processes and quality standards.
- Experience interpreting 2D drawings, drafting standards, and GD&T.
- Ability to analyze BOMs and engineering drawings.
- Experience negotiating supplier quotations and contracts.
- Proven ability to identify and implement cost-reduction opportunities.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and general PC/networking skills.
- Valid driver's license.
- U.S. Citizen or Permanent Resident.
- Willingness to travel domestically and internationally up to 40%.
- Ability to pass a background investigation, post-offer health screening, and drug testing.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with Visual Mfg. database/software.
- Knowledge of quality management systems and methodologies.
- Experience with supplier quality, supplier development, or supplier qualification.
- Experience with international sourcing and supplier development.
Salary : $70,000 - $90,000
