Location: Buffalo, NY (Preferred) / Remote
(Travel to Buffalo, NY every 4–6 weeks required; Monday–Thursday onsite during travel weeks)

Position Overview
The Business Architect defines and evolves the enterprise business architecture to ensure alignment between strategy, operating model, and execution. This role establishes clarity around organizational objectives, value delivery, and the business capabilities required to achieve strategic outcomes.
The Business Architect serves as the bridge between business strategy and enterprise execution, shaping target-state models, informing investment decisions, and ensuring initiatives deliver measurable business value. This individual will partner closely with executives, enterprise architecture teams, product organizations, and delivery teams to drive alignment across business and technology initiatives.
This role is ideal for a strategic thinker with strong business and technology translation expertise, excellent communication skills, and experience operating within large, complex enterprise environments.
Key Responsibilities
Strategy Alignment
- Translate business strategy into capability models, value streams, and initiative roadmaps
- Ensure initiatives align to strategic objectives and target outcomes
- Support long-term business and operating model planning efforts
Business Architecture Modeling
- Develop and maintain business capability maps, value streams, operating models, and business architecture artifacts
- Define and document current-state and target-state business architecture views
- Create executive-ready visualizations and strategic planning materials
Transformation & Investment Guidance
- Identify capability gaps and prioritize investments based on business value
- Support portfolio planning, investment prioritization, and business case development
- Provide business architecture guidance for enterprise transformation initiatives
Enterprise Analysis & Design
- Assess business processes, organizational structures, and systems for alignment and operational efficiency
- Define business-driven requirements for transformation initiatives
- Partner with technology teams to ensure solutions align with intended business outcomes
Stakeholder Engagement
- Collaborate with executives, business leaders, Enterprise Architects, Solution Architects, Product teams, and delivery organizations
- Facilitate alignment across business and technology stakeholders
- Influence decision-making across complex organizational environments without direct authority
Governance & Standards
- Establish and maintain business architecture standards, frameworks, and best practices
- Ensure traceability from strategy through execution, including capabilities, initiatives, and outcomes
- Promote consistency in business architecture methodologies and deliverables
Cross-Architecture Collaboration
- Partner with Enterprise, Solution, Data, and Domain Architects to align business and technology strategies
- Ensure business intent is accurately reflected in enterprise solutions and technology decisions
- Contribute to enterprise-wide architecture governance and planning activities
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Information Technology, Engineering, or related field
- (Master’s degree preferred)
- 10 years of experience in Business Architecture, Enterprise Architecture, Strategy, Consulting, or Transformation roles
- Demonstrated experience developing business architecture artifacts including:
- Capability maps
- Value stream maps
- Operating models
- Transformation roadmaps
- Strong business and technology acumen with the ability to connect strategy to execution
- Experience working within large, complex enterprise organizations
- Financial services industry experience strongly preferred
- Strong executive communication, facilitation, and stakeholder management skills
- Ability to influence cross-functional teams and drive alignment across business and technology organizations
Preferred Certifications
- Certified Business Architect (CBA®) – Business Architecture Guild
- TOGAF or equivalent Enterprise Architecture certification

Salary : $110,000 - $140,000
