SOL Engineering Services is seeking an experienced
Aircraft Painter to work at the NTWL Patuxent River Naval Air Station, Patuxent River, MD. The Aircraft Painter will prepare and paint aircrafts and support equipment and allied component surfaces. The person selected will be required to interface with the customer and as a SOL representative and must present an appropriate appearance and demeanor. The person selected must be flexible to work overtime on any shift, including weekends, and must be available for detachments, both ashore based and shipboard.
NOTE: This is an onsite position at Patuxent River Naval Air Station, Patuxent River, MD.

Minimum Qualifications for the Role
- High school degree or equivalent
- A minimum of five (5) years experience in the preparation and painting of aircraft, support equipment, and allied component surfaces
- Personnel within this classification MUST be specialized in one or more of the following SCA occupational codes:
- 23740 Painter, aircraft
- 05310 Automotive painter
- AND MUST have taken one or more of the following courses:
- Aircraft Paint Touch Up and Markings Course (Course N-701-0014)
- Aircraft Paint/Finish Course (Course C-600-3182)
- U.S. citizenship required
Job Duties
- The aircraft painter prepares and paints the aircraft, support equipment, and allied component surfaces.
- Coats surfaces of aircraft, support equipment, and allied components with paint, laquer, epoxy, resin, or other material using brushes, rollers, spray guns, and other devices.
- Removes old paint from aircraft using liquid paint remover and scraper.
- Smooths surface with sandpaper and steel wool.
- Roughens aluminum surfaces with acid solution and steel wool to ensure that paint adheres to surface.
- Masks and covers portions of surface not to be painted.
- Paints insignia, letters, or numerals on aircraft surface using stencils.
