Description Sol Aureus College Preparatory is committed to high student achievement and teaching excellence. The expectation is that all of our students will graduate from 8th grade performing at or above grade level in all subject areas, particularly reading, writing, and math. As stated in the mission, we also expect all of our students to be prepared to compete and be successful in college and life. The role of a Sol Aureus Paraeducator/Youth Special (PYS) is multi-faceted. A S.A.C. Prep PYS is committed to the mission, is a team player, and serves in a variety of roles, while maintaining an unwavering focus on exemplary classroom support and a commitment to work with students where they are at, both academically and developmentally. Responsibilities • Arrive prepared for the day (Daily Schedule 9:30am – 6:00pm) • Assists one or more teachers with one-on-one or small group tutoring and/or in the direct care, supervision, and support of the children in a classroom setting. • Maintains and prepares classroom materials, attendance records, health forms, and student files. • Provides instructional assistance that reinforces learning to individuals or small groups of students. • Monitors classroom activities when a teacher is absent from the classroom for a limited time. • Observes and monitors behavior of students within approved procedures. • Aids in dealing with the situation, as appropriate. • Candidates will provide supervision and support during the extended day program (R.I.S.E.). • Monitors and reports student progress regarding behavior and academic performance. • Performs basic clerical and instructional support duties, and other related duties as assigned.
