SOKO Outfitters opened in 2018 by four friends with a passion for Cedar Rapids and the outdoors. Frustrated with not being able to purchase their favorite brands and outdoor gear locally, they combined their expertise to open Cedar Rapids' only locally owned outdoor store. SOKO Outfitters started as a passion project that has become a staple in our active community.
SUMMARY AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Sales Associates are responsible for providing customers with exceptional service and assisting them with the gear needed for any adventure. Combining in-house brand training and personal experience, Sales Associates should be able to recommend products that fit a customer's needs. This position is for weekends only, 10-15/week. Applicants who are interested in working our consignment program will receive priority. Applicants who are interested in website work and data entry will receive priority and will have the potential to work from home for more hours per week. This requires strong computer skills and familiarity with Microsoft Excel.
Responsibilities:
· Greet and assist customers
· Recommend products based on customer needs
· Operate point-of-sale (POS) systems
· Process transactions efficiently
· Handle returns and exchanges
· Maintain an accurate cash drawer
· Offer loyalty programs or promotions
· Maintain store cleanliness and organization
· Restock shelves and manage displays
· Meet or exceed sales targets
· Receive and unpack merchandise
· Tag and organize stock
· Conduct inventory counts
· Replenish items on the sales floor
· Report damaged or missing goods
· Thank customers
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
- High school diploma as appropriate for age, or working towards a high school diploma, GED or equivalent is required
- 2 years of experience in retail
- Must be at least 16 years of age; 18 years of age to use/operate the climbing wall and work private events
OTHER QUALIFICATIONS:
- Proven ability to engage customers and provide customer service; Ability to take initiative; Creative, energetic, enthusiastic, and flexible.
- Demonstrated excellent selling skills with the ability to meet or exceed sales goals
- Ability to communicate, both verbally and in writing, clearly and concisely
- Must be available weekends and occasional nights for events
- Ability to lift and/or move up to 50 lbs
