Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive patient assessments, including diagnostic evaluations using ICD-9, ICD-10, and ICD coding systems, to determine appropriate treatment strategies.
- Develop and implement individualized treatment plans incorporating behavioral health techniques such as cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), motivational interviewing, and behavioral management.
- Facilitate both individual and group therapy sessions focused on addiction counseling, mental health counseling, trauma recovery (including PTSD care), and family counseling.
- Perform crisis intervention when necessary, managing acute situations with professionalism and empathy while ensuring patient safety.
- Maintain accurate medical documentation, including progress notes, treatment plans, intake forms, and medical records in compliance with HIPAA regulations.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams for case management, discharge planning, and community care coordination to support holistic patient recovery.
- Engage in ongoing research and data collection efforts to improve clinical practices and ensure adherence to best practices in addiction medicine and behavioral health.
Skills
- Strong knowledge of psychotherapy modalities such as cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), applied behavior analysis (ABA), and behavior management strategies.
- Proficiency in motivational interviewing techniques to motivate change and foster patient engagement.
- Experience with child & family counseling, home & community care settings, hospital environments, and crisis management scenarios.
- Familiarity with medical terminology, ICD coding systems (ICD-9/10), medical documentation standards, and CPT coding for billing purposes.
- Ability to perform diagnostic evaluations for mental health disorders and substance use disorders using evidence-based tools.
- Excellent patient care skills combined with the ability to conduct intake assessments effectively.
- Knowledge of HIPAA regulations ensuring confidentiality of patient information at all times.
- Competence in social work principles, case management practices, and data collection methods relevant to behavioral health settings.
