The Opportunity

We're hiring an experienced and transformative Director of Accounting to own the financial operations of a high-growth Manufacturing Technology company. Reporting directly to the Co-Founder & CFO, this is a critical hire — and a potential succession investment. The Director will lead day-to-day accounting, drive automation of financial processes through AI and modern tooling, and own audit and tax functions.

Core Responsibilities

Core Accounting

• Own the month-end and year-end close process end-to-end
• Prepare and review financial statements (P&L, Balance Sheet, Cash Flow)
• Manage accounts payable, accounts receivable, and cash management
• Own payroll processing and compliance
• Maintain the general ledger and chart of accounts
• Lead annual audit preparation and serve as primary auditor liaison
• Ensure federal, state, and local tax compliance; coordinate with external tax advisors

Controls & Strategy

• Design and enforce internal controls and financial policies
• Lead procurement accounting and vendor payment terms management
• Collaborate with FP&A to ensure integrity of Master Data
• Own data inputs to support Commercial Pricing
• Maintain a rolling cash flow forecast; oversee Capex project spending
• Prepare KPI dashboards and financial reporting packages for leadership
• Develop job costing and margin analysis by customer/SKU
• Evaluate and manage accounting software, tools, and integrations
• Maintain the Accounting Manual; hire, onboard, and develop accounting staff

Digital Transformation Mandate

• Automate the month-end close using native software workflows and AI tools
• Build AP/AR automation with AI-assisted invoice processing
• Implement real-time expense and cash flow dashboards (NetSuite BI tools)
• Automate payroll reconciliation and journal entries
• Create self-service financial reporting for department heads
• Integrate procurement data into financial reporting
• Replace manual Excel workflows with AI-driven processes
• Document and publish SOPs for all automated financial processes

Qualifications

• CPA license required
• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Accounting required; undergraduate minor or coursework in Engineering, Computer Science, or a quantitative discipline strongly preferred
• 8–15 years of combined public accounting (audit or tax) and private industry experience
• Deep experience with NetSuite ERP; additional ERP or BI tool experience a plus
• Demonstrated success implementing accounting automation or AI-powered finance tools
• Experience in manufacturing, 3PL, supply chain, or similar operationally complex environments preferred
• Strong technical accounting knowledge
• Excellent communicator — able to translate financial data into actionable insights for non-finance leaders
